Colorado State and Northern Colorado announced today they will play football in 2011 in Fort Collins.
“This is a great opportunity to regionally showcase our football program,” UNC athletic director Jay Hinrichs said in a release. “We have faced the Rams in a number of sports and I know our student-athletes look forward to the competition.”
CSU’s guarantee to UNC is $225,000 for the game at Hughes Stadium, which is set for Sept. 10.
Said Rams AD Paul Kowalczyk: “I think it’s an outstanding game for this region, an opportunity to spotlight both institutions and their football programs. We’re looking forward to renewing this series.”
The teams have not played since 1986, but the series started in 1899.
