AURORA, Colo.—Arapahoe County prosecutors filed formal charges Thursday against a man accused in a two-vehicle crash in Aurora that killed three people—including a 3-year-old boy.
Twenty-three-year-old Francis Hernandez is charged with three counts of felony vehicular homicide and three felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death. He’s also charged with vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury and driving under restraint.
Police say Hernandez drove an SUV through a red light, struck a pickup and pushed it into an ice cream shop Sept. 4. Two women in the pickup died instantly, and a toddler in the store died later at a hospital.
Hernandez could face 26 years to more than 78 years behind bars if convicted.
