DENVER—Federal officials will offer oil and gas leases on 20,382 acres in Colorado at a Nov. 13 auction.
The Bureau of Land Management says the 38 parcels of public property are in 11 counties, including 8,861 acres in Archuleta County and 4,810 acres in Rio Blanco.
Some of the proposed leases are split estate, meaning the minerals are federally owned and the surface is owned by someone else. Leaseholders have the right to reasonable use of the surface to extract the minerals.
The state and federal government share the revenue from mineral royalties on federal land.
