DENVER—Xcel Energy says it will deploy 43 workers from Denver to help restore power in Texas in the wake of Hurricane Ike.
The 37 Colorado linemen and six support personnel are scheduled to depart Sunday morning for duty in Beaumont.
The utility says its workers will help rebuild damaged electricity transmission and distribution systems.
Xcel and other utilities have mutual aid agreements in which they can send each other extra crews to help respond to widespread, lengthy power outages, and the requesting utility reimburses costs.
Xcel says it also is sending workers from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
