The University of Colorado women’s soccer team scored two second-half goals to rally for its fifth consecutive victory, topping Memphis 2-1 in a nonconference game in Tennessee on Sunday.

Alex Cousins’ penalty-kick goal in the 52nd minute tied the game 1-1, and Kelly Butler’s unassisted score in the 71st minute proved the game-winner over the Tigers (3-2-1).

CU (5-1-1) came from behind in the second half for the second straight game. On Friday, the Buffs got by host Mississippi in Oxford, 3-2 in overtime.

“Friday, we won with a lot of determination and really good play, and today we won with what was left,” Buffs coach Bill Hempen said. “I am pretty sure that they are exhausted right now, and while it wasn’t particularly pretty, we did enough.”

CU’s five-game winning streak is its longest since 2004.

McAllister first in City Amateur.

Denver’s Sean McAllister won the 12th Denver City Amateur tournament at City Park Golf Course in a playoff.

McAllister’s second-round, 1-under-par 71 vaulted him into a tie with Denver’s Danny Riskam and Westminster’s Joe Schwark at 146 before McAllister prevailed in the playoff.

Littleton’s Henry Cameron and Denver’s Scott Kennedy finished tied for fourth at 3-over 147.

CSU spikers keep rolling.

The No. 21-ranked Colorado State women’s volleyball team extended its home winning streak to 19 games, sweeping No. 8 Florida 26-24, 25-16, 25-14 on Friday in front of 4,009 fans at Moby Arena.

The Rams (8-1) came from behind in the first set to win, then never were threatened again.

• North Carolina won the final match of the Colorado Invitational on Friday, beating the Buffaloes 25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 27-25 at the Coors Events Center. CU (6-3) went 0-3 in the tournament, having also lost to CSU and Florida.

• Denver defeated DePaul in Chicago on Friday 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20. The Pioneers (6-2) finished as runners-up in the DePaul Invitational.
