Three sets of twins — Annie and Hannah Scott, Christine and Lauren YoungSmith, and Eleanor and Natalie Hackstaff — are among the 68 debutantes and Young Men of Distinction to be presented at the 2009 Le Bal de Ballet.
The honorees met for the first time as a group when a reception was held in their honor at Cherry Hills Country Club. Paulene Cole, whose husband, Dr. Toby Cole, will make the formal introductions June 20, planned the midafternoon event, also attended by parents, ball chairwoman Suzanne Pacetti and key members of her committee.
The Scott twins are the daughters of Sharon and Dr. Douglas Scott. Annie is a senior at St. Mary’s Academy, where she plays varsity lacrosse and field hockey and is active in student government; Hannah is a senior at Kent Denver School and, like her sister, plays varsity field hockey and lacrosse. She also is a vice president of the school credit union. Both volunteer at Warren Village.
The YoungSmiths are high honor roll seniors and members of Amnesty International at Colorado Academy. Christie is editor of the student literary journal, Kokopelli, and Lauren has received awards for her writing and art. Their parents are Susan YoungSmith and the late Peter YoungSmith.
Eleanor and Natalie Hackstaff are active in student government at St. Mary’s Academy, where they are members of the National Honor Society and play varsity field hockey and lacrosse. Their parents are James Hackstaff and Melinda Hackstaff.
Young Men of Distinction include Kendall Early and Taylor Johnson, who’ll also be presented at the Jack and Jill Beautillion in December. Kendall, who is weighing college offers from Princeton and Stanford, is the son of Adriana Early and former District Attorney Norm Early; Taylor, the son of June and Dr. Johnny Johnson, is co-captain of the Machebeuf High School varsity golf team and has received a Foundations of Chemistry Academic Award.
Debutante Brittany Bowlen, a daughter of Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and his wife, Annabel, is an accomplished figure skater and described an internship with the Institute for Sports Medicine in Toronto right before the 2008 Summer Olympics — “working with all the incredible athletes on the Canadian Olympic team” — as one of the most meaningful experiences in her life.
Alexandra Medved, daughter of auto dealer John and Debi Medved, also will be making her debut at Le Bal de Ballet. She’s a member of the varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams, the National Honor Society and has made two trips to Hawaii with her honors marine science classmates.
Other honorees include Nell Erzinger, Brooke O’Neal, Mary Kaitlyn Gallagher, Sarah Gleichenhaus, Max Maulitz, Kelly McGuckin, Haley Mirr, Jack Heuer, Mary Astuno, Lindsey Bell, James Kreidle, Anne Riggs, Daniel Rosenblum, Katarina Niparko, Virginia Lichty, Kathleen Hickey, Conor Hegedus, Peter Walker, Brock Smethills, Keegan Slattery, Alexander Opp, Nyla Nasser, Amanda Marsh, John Lantz, Alison Dehncke, Christopher Hoffman and Kathryn Kennedy.
