A firefighter was injured this morning fighting a rural house fire in Boulder County.

The fire broke out at about 3:30 a.m. at 8426 N. Foothills Highway, said Capt. Robert O’Donnell of the Boulder Rural Fire Department.

About 30 firefighters fought the fire, which burned a garage and at least three bedrooms in the home, O’Donnell said.

A firefighter who slipped and fell while fighting the blaze was taken to a local hospital, treated and released, O’Donnell said.

The Lefthand and Hygiene Fire Protection Districts, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and Boulder County Emergency Services responded to the fire as well.

All residents of the home escaped without injury.

The cause of the fire in under investigation.
