The Village at FlatIron Crossing mall will be redesigned to include a boutique hotel and an east-west road through the center of the outdoor shopping area.
In its current form, the Village is a pedestrian-only outdoor shopping area that includes a mix of restaurants and retailers. The changes will concentrate dining along an area north of the AMC Theaters.
Village Tavern will move to the southeast side of the new road, and Bloom restaurant will move to the southwest side. The new hotel, which will have up to 200 rooms, will be on the west end of the new road. The hotel is expected to open in spring 2010.
“The ConocoPhillips announcement, along with the whole renewed energy interest in this Interlocken area, has prompted us to take a look at our Village and develop a plan to enhance it,” said Rob Luciano, assistant vice president of development for Macerich, which owns FlatIron Crossing in Broomfield.
ConocoPhillips is building a research center in Louisville, which is expected to bring jobs, visitors and related businesses to the area.
Macerich also said Monday that Forever 21 and a Container Store will open in the former Lord & Taylor space by next summer. A third retailer in the space will be announced soon.
Lord & Taylor was a major anchor of the indoor portion of the mall until it pulled out of the market in 2004.
