DURANGO, Colo.—The only grocery story in the small town of Hermosa is closing in two weeks.
Mac’s Hermosa Market will close Sept. 27. Owners Mac and Sharon McCausland blame rising food costs and higher overhead.
The McCauslands have run the store for 32 years, watching their clientele change from working-class shoppers who lived on farms and in mobile homes to people living in expensive homes.
Hermosa is an unincorporated town about 10 miles north of Durango. Durango has at least four grocery stores and two health-food stores.
