The timing of the Glenwood Springs Whitewater Park’s first Throw Down Show Down freestyle kayak event may be a bit behind the curve, but there still should be plenty of water in the Colorado River on Sunday to put on a show.
The event is considered a practice run for the upcoming Freestyle Kayaking U.S. Team Trials in Glenwood on May 30-31, 2009. There are four age divisions: under 14, 15-18, 18-45 and 45 and older.
Preregister at Glenwood Canyon Kayak (100 Midland Ave., West Glenwood Springs) for $20 ($25 on Sunday). Competition begins at 11 a.m. and spectators are invited to attend for free. Scott Willoughby, The Denver Post
