A 38-year-old inmate of the Douglas County jail who died this week hanged himself, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said today in a news release.
Deputies found Michael Higginbotham unresponsive in his cell, and efforts to revive him failed.
Higginbotham was arrested Sept. 7 in connection with armed robberies at Walgreens pharmacies in the Denver area.
The Douglas County coroner’s office determined that Higginbotham died of asphyxiation and called the death a suicide.
The 18th Judicial Critical Response Team is continuing the investigation.
