CASTLE ROCK, Colo.—Investigators now say alcohol is suspected as a factor in a car-semi crash in Douglas County that killed one person and sent another to a hospital.
The Colorado State Patrol says a Toyota Corolla crossed the center line of an Interstate 25 frontage road south of Castle Rock about 5 a.m. Monday and hit a Kenworth tractor-trailer head-on.
A passenger in the Toyota, 24-year-old Justin M. Forgy of Pueblo, was killed. The driver, 28-year-old Tyler J. Swarbrick of Pueblo, was taken to Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree with moderate injuries.
The truck driver was not hurt.
The accident caused a rupture in one of the truck’s saddle tanks.
Trooper David Hall says the CSP’s hazardous materials unit was called to clean up about 100 gallons of diesel fuel.
