TRENTON, N.J. — ImClone Systems Inc. chairman Carl Icahn swatted down an increased offer of $4.7 billion for his company from partner Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. on Tuesday, calling it “absurd” and taunting his counterpart at the drugmaker.
Icahn’s response to Bristol- Myers chief executive James Cornelius confirmed the once-friendly acquisition offer has turned into a hostile takeover attempt.
