NASCAR already has its hands full with intense technical inspections on its participants’ cars, but last week the sanctioning body intensified its random banned-substance testing policies for its drivers. And yes, certain allergy pills have become illegal, which is akin to testing major-league baseball officials for the same kind of stuff. These drivers aren’t stupid enough to take steroids, simply because they know it can’t help them drive, and having road rage behind the wheel will only get them penalized, fined or kicked out of the sport. NASCAR needs to focus on inspecting the cars, not what drivers take to help a cold or allergies.
