Through two overtimes and 110 minutes, the No. 18-ranked Colorado women’s soccer team played No. 12 Oklahoma State to a 1-1 draw in a Big 12 Conference match Sunday at Prentup Field in Boulder.

Oklahoma State (8-0-1, 1-0-1 Big 12) took an early lead on Yolanda Odenyo’s goal in the seventh minute. But CU (8-1-2, 2-0-1) bounced right back. Gianna DeSaverio’s fifth goal of the season and third in two games tied the score in the 10th minute. Her rebound goal came after Nikki Marshall’s shot was blocked.

“It was a battle up until the last stretch,” CU coach Bill Hempen said. “They put a lot of pressure on us, and we did the same. That’s a great team we played, and it’s obvious that we had our chances, but today just wasn’t the day.”

Just after halftime, Marshall made a move toward the Oklahoma State goal and was fouled inside the penalty box. But Alex Cousins’ penalty kick shot was saved by Oklahoma State goalkeeper Erin Stigler.

DU stays hot in soccer.

The University of Denver women’s soccer team remained undefeated in Sun Belt Conference play with a 2-1 victory at Louisiana- Lafayette that was DU’s fifth consecutive win.

DU senior Taryn Hemmings scored the winning goal in the 79th minute after rebounding a deflected shot by Mariah Johnston. Hemmings has nine goals, including a team-leading four game-winning tallies.

“Today was a good win for us,” DU coach Jeff Hooker said. “It’s always hard to win on the road.”

Jessi Keller’s first goal of the season, on a drive from 25 yards out, tied the score for DU in the 35th minute.

DU improved to 9-1-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the Sun Belt. Louisiana-Lafayette dropped to 2-7-1 and 0-2-0.
