HOLLYWOOD — “Eagle Eye” soared in theaters over the weekend, providing a strong $29.2 million boost to a movie industry suffering from the post-summer doldrums.
The DreamWorks/Paramount thriller starring Shia LaBeouf opened at No. 1 and landed in fourth place on the list of top-grossing September releases.
No. 2 “Nights in Rodanthe,” a screen adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, came in with $13.6 million for the weekend. Sony’s “Lakeview Terrace” was third with $7 million for the weekend. Los Angeles Times
