A 51-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries when a young teen driver turned in front of him and then took off rather than help the injured man or talk to authorities.

William B. Schafer III of Boulder was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle east on Colorado Highway 74 when a older model pickup turned in front of him at Twin Spruce Road at about 11:15 a.m., according to the State Patrol.

Schafer slid the bike on its side, He was thrown from the seat but avoided tumbling under the oncoming truck, troopers said.

He was rushed to St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver, where he was listed in serious condition.

The driver of the green 1970s or early ’80s model pickup took off.

The State Patrol hopes anyone with information about the pickup driver will call 303-239-4583.
