OFFENSE
D The Broncos’ offense racked up plenty of yards — 446 — but that doesn’t mean much when you can’t score. Denver committed four turnovers and scored only once on four trips inside the 20.
DEFENSE
D So much for the Broncos’ run defense being better, or for the pass defense getting its act together. The Chiefs had scored only 32 points in their first three games, all losses. Against the Broncos, who were unbeaten, they scored 33.
SPECIAL TEAMS
C Matt Prater converted 4-of-5 field goal attempts, including kicks of 56 and 51 yards, but Brett Kern had a 26-yard punt that went out of bounds at the Chiefs’ 48. Kick coverage was spotty. Champ Bailey had another TD-saving tackle, his third this year.
COACHING
D Mike Shanahan said in his postgame comments that the Broncos weren’t prepared, and it was evident from the Chiefs’ opening possession — a nine-play, 84-yard scoring drive.
OVERALL
D It was a deflating loss that proved any talk of the playoffs — and especially of the Super Bowl — was premature. The Chiefs exposed weaknesses in every facet of the Broncos’ game.
