Kay Hoey of Long Beach State shot a final-round, 1-under-par 71 on Tuesday to win the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational women’s golf tournament hosted by the University of Colorado at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield.

Hoey, who shot a tournament-low 65 in the opening round and never gave up the top spot through three rounds, finished at 9-under 207. CU freshman Emily Childs and Cal-Davis’ Alice Kim tied for second place, three shots back at 210.

Notre Dame finished on top of the team standings at 6-under 858. Texas Tech (863), Colorado (867) Colorado State (870) and Long Beach State (867) rounded out the top five.

CSU’s performance set a school record for best three-round total, bettering the 876 the Rams posted at their own Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in 2004.

• Denver junior Espen Kofstad shot an even-par 72 to finish third at the University of Louisville’s Cardinal Intercollegiate with an 11-under 205, five strokes behind the winner, Trey Bowling of Eastern Kentucky, who shot a tournament-best 65 in the final round.

Kofstad’s third-place finish powered the Pioneers to fourth place at 18-under 846, 12 shots behind the team champion Cardinals.

Buffs rise in soccer poll.

The Colorado women’s soccer team (8-1-2) moved up one spot to No. 17 in the NSCAA Division I coaches poll Tuesday.

• The Fort Lewis men’s soccer team (7-1-1) is ranked No. 3 in the NSCAA Division II coaches poll, jumping up three places. Metro State (6-2-1) fell two spots to No. 18 and Mesa State (7-3-0) entered the poll for the first time this season at No. 24.

• The Metro State women’s soccer team dropped two spots to No. 13 in the NSCAA Division II coaches poll.
