LA PAZ, Bolivia — The Russian ambassador to Bolivia hopes the Andean nation’s plan to purchase five civil defense helicopters is only a “first step” in deepening ties.
Ambassador Leonid Golubev says that Russia’s ties to Bolivia could one day “approach the level” of its relationship with Venezuela, which will host the Russian navy for military exercises in the Caribbean later this year.
