A fire at a Westminster home did “severe damage” but caused no injuries, a spokeswoman for the Westminster Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded to a 911 call made about a house fire at 148th and Osage Court just after 10 a.m., fire spokeswoman Diana Allen said in a statement. Smoke from the blaze could be seen for some distance.
The fire was doused within 11 minutes, but there was considerable damage to the $800,000 home.
Witnesses told investigators that the fire started inside a vehicle in the three-car garage while the resident was mowing the backyard. A neighbor spotted the fire and came over to tell him.
The fire department estimated the damage at $70,000.
