Frontier Airlines said Thursday it reached an agreement with the Transport Workers Union for long-term wage and benefit concessions. The union represents the company’s dispatchers.

The agreement, which still faces a membership vote and bankruptcy-court approval, would extend the concessions through 2012.

The airline also remained on top in fewest canceled flights for August. According the Air Travel Consumer Report released Thursday by the Department of Transportation, overall on-time performance improved in August to 78.4 percent, compared with 71.7 percent in August last year.

But Frontier fell one spot — from fifth to sixth place — in on-time arrivals, at 82.9 percent. Southwest Airlines came in fifth with 84.4 percent of its flights arriving on time, and United Airlines was 15th with 72.9 percent.
