Temperatures in the 80s and 90s make it feel like summer, but the golden colors gilding the landscape tell us we’re experiencing the full force of fall. As a photojournalist, I enjoy shooting the changing seasons. This time I experimented with my approach, making a series of photos that are double or triple exposures that include urban images overlapped with shots of fall colors in the same neighborhoods. Here in Colorado you mostly see photos of fall foliage in grand mountain landscapes that have been photographed for decades. This project helped me remember to look for beauty closer to home and to understand that a new look at the changing seasons is sometimes as close as your living room window. Photos and text by R.J.
