Objective of the 14th annual Big Sit bird-a-thon: Tally as many bird species that can be seen in a limited area within 24 hours. The limited area is your choice of a good bird-watching spot, 17 feet in diameter. Count all the species you see or hear at one of Colorado’s eight national wildlife refuges.

By turns pensive and arch, this Celtic-influenced debut CD by a Nederland-based string band is the perfect soundtrack for cooling autumn nights and coming winter days. Musical influences include bluegrass, roots and what the band calls “mountain hip-hop.” The Elephants’ October touring venues include Lyons, Boulder, Cañon City and Nederland.
