The Central Hockey League on Sunday delayed a players strike that threatened the start of the minor league’s season after agreeing to meet this week with the players’ union. The two sides will convene in Denver on Wednesday.

The Professional Hockey Players Association had called for a strike of the CHL, which includes the Colorado Eagles and the Rocky Mountain Rage. But the PHPA lifted the strike after the CHL agreed to continue working toward a collective bargaining agreement.

The CHL season is scheduled to start Oct. 17. With the strike lifted, teams were allowed to continue with preseason training camps. The Eagles and Rage begin practices today.

The Eagles and Rage are scheduled to play their first preseason game Wednesday in Loveland. The game will be a benefit for injured Colorado player Les Borsheim.
