She is the daughter of a railroad worker who broke out of small-town Colorado and has broken new ground for Latino lawyers.
He is a third-generation lawyer who will now be able to follow his father onto the federal bench.
Christine Arguello and Philip A. Brimmer were selected by Colorado’s senators, Republican Wayne Allard and Democrat Ken Salazar, to serve lifetime terms at the U.S. District Court in Denver.
President Bush nominated Arguello and Brimmer, and the U.S. Senate confirmed their appointments to the bench on Sept. 26.
Their confirmations are expected to ease the burden on Denver’s federal court, which is operating with three vacancies, four active judges and two judges in semi-retirement.
