DENVER—Former Colorado State football coach Sonny Lubick and recently retired Denver Broncos receiver Rod Smith are among the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame’s six-person class.
The selection committee on Monday also elected:
—Former Colorado Rockies chairman Jerry McMorris,
—Former NHL star and longtime Colorado hockey figure Ralph Backstrom
—Lt. Col. John Mosley, an ex-Colorado A&M (Colorado State) standout football player and wrestler as well as a member of the famed Tuskegee Airmen during World War II
—Laurice Hunter, the trailblazing volleyball coach at Evergreen High School.
They will be inducted on April 14.
Lubick coached the Rams from 1993-2007, compiling a 108-74 record and leading the program to nine bowl berths and six conference championships.
Smith set several NFL receiving records for an undrafted player and was forced into retirement by a bad hip last summer, retiring with team records for career receptions, yards receiving, touchdown catches and total touchdowns.
