AURORA, Colo.—A suspect in a sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl that led to a mob beating a man believed involved has been arrested after more than four years on the run.
Twenty-four-year-old Domingo Lopez-Avaloy was arrested Thursday at an apartment in Charlotte, N.C. He is wanted in the Aug. 14, 2004, assault on a girl who police say was pulled into an apartment and sexually assaulted by at least two men.
Lopez-Avaloy is being held at the Mecklenberg County Jail in North Carolina awaiting extradition to Colorado. Lopez-Avaloy was one of four men suspected in the assault. One of those men is serving a five years to life sentence in prison.
Lopez-Avaloy faces a charge of second-degree kidnapping, four charges of sexual assault, serious bodily injury and four counts of sexual assault on a child.
