COLORADO SPRINGS — Police are investigating the origin of a pipe bomb found in a residential area about a half-mile from two schools.
A man discovered the 4-inch device behind a sport utility vehicle on a northeast Colorado Springs street about 12:45 p.m. Monday. The resident picked up the object and showed it to a neighbor, who is a firefighter. He identified the device as a pipe bomb. A police robot covered the bomb with sandbags before authorities detonated it about 4 p.m.
