VAIL — Vail Resorts say it’s offering a $50 credit to some skiers to offset fees that airlines are charging to check baggage.

Resort spokeswoman Kelly Ladyga says the fees aren’t keeping visitors away, but the promotion is a way of making Vail stand out from the competition.

Skiers have to stay at least four nights to qualify for the credit.

Kent Myers, a consultant who helps bring flights to the Vail area, says the baggage fees didn’t appear to deter summertime visitors who checked their golf clubs when they took commercial flights to Vail.
