Kansas football coach Mark Mangino has turned Memorial Stadium into a tough home- field advantage in recent years. Now, he wants it be a little less obscene.
Mangino will make a personal plea to the KU students, encouraging them not to continue with their profane chant before kickoffs at the Jayhawks’ home games, associate athletic director Jim Marchiony told The Kansas City Star.
The chant — based on a line from the 1998 Adam Sandler comedy “The Waterboy” — states, “Rip his (expletive) head off,” referring to the opposing team’s kickoff return man.
KU, which hosts Colorado on Saturday, will send a video via e-mail today of Mangino speaking to the student body, and the video will be replayed before Saturday’s game.
