TRINIDAD, Colo.—A teenager is dead and her 1-year-old girl niece is hospitalized after a one-vehicle rollover north of Trinidad in southern Colorado.
The Colorado State Patrol says 17-year-old Holly Ringo of Aguilar was driving a Dodge SUV southbound on Interstate 25 when she drifted off the road and onto the center median about 7:30 a.m. Friday.
The vehicle flipped over and ejected Ringo, who was not wearing a seat belt. Both the SUV and the teenager landed on northbound I-25.
Ringo was pronounced dead at the scene. Her niece, identified as Jazlyn Gandomcar, was airlifted to a Colorado Springs hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
