A failure-to-appear warrant has been issued for former Broncos receiver David Kircus.
Kircus, 28, failed to appear for his felony assault case in district court in Arapahoe County on Friday, according to the Arapahoe County district attorney’s office.
Kircus is accused of punching a man in the face outside a Centennial home May 20, 2007.
The victim suffered facial fractures. The ex-NFL player says he acted in self-defense.
A court hearing to address Kircus’ absence is set for next Friday. A trial was scheduled to begin Oct. 20. If convicted of second-degree assault causing serious bodily injury, Kircus could be sentenced to five to 16 years in prison.
