FORT COLLINS — A family was left homeless Saturday after a two-alarm fire damaged much of their house.

The fire, reported to Poudre Emergency Communications at 3:47 p.m., apparently started in the garage at 1409 Hillcrest. When firefighters arrived, they found the family trying to extinguish the flames with a garden hose.

The fire damaged the garage and attic extensively, but firefighters stopped it from entering the living area, saving the family’s belongings.
