Douglas County High School was established in 1896. Tuesday’s state golf championship, led by medalist Derek Fribbs, was just the fifth team title in the school’s history.
Junior achievement:
Monarch junior Brandon Jacquez won the No. 1 singles crown at the Class 5A Region 1 tennis tournament at Cherry Creek. The Bruins won the region, and they won the other six positions.
Stout netminding:
Cheyenne Mountain freshman goalie Connor Stout stopped all eight shots he saw Thursday in a 4-0 soccer win over previously unbeaten Pueblo West. Bruno Villavicencio’s goal was the winner.
