When television audiences curl up to watch the exploits of Izzie, Meredith and George, they’re also absorbing health information, according to a study released by the Kaiser Family Foundation. A May episode storyline on “Grey’s Anatomy” involved an HIV-positive pregnant woman who learns that with proper treatment she can almost certainly have an HIV-negative baby. A week after the episode aired, researchers found that the audience’s awareness of this information had quadrupled. The Washington Post
