The tailback job belongs to veteran Michael Pittman, but fresh-leg reinforcement will be coming soon with the return of rookie Ryan Torain. Out since suffering a dislocated left elbow in training camp, Torain is expected to start practicing Wednesday.

The Broncos’ plan is for Torain to work his way into shape this week and the following (bye) week before considering him for play Nov. 2 against Miami.

Trading deadline.

The Broncos are thin at receiver, but don’t expect them to make a deal before the trading deadline at 2 p.m. MDT today.

“Over the years, I haven’t seen very many teams make a blockbuster trade or anything like that,” Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said. “They save that for the other sports.”

Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey figures to be nearly automatic for his ninth consecutive selection. Those with a chance at earning their first Pro Bowl berths include outside linebacker D.J. Williams, quarterback Jay Cutler, receiver Brandon Marshall and kicker Matt Prater. Left guard Ben Hamilton and center Casey Wiegmann also could get some votes.
