Burton isn’t likely to win the championship, but in the event Jimmie Johnson wrecks in at least two of the final five races, Burton has put himself in position to capitalize and collect the crown. He moved up two positions, to second, with his win at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. He trails Johnson by 69 points.
