Two former Internet service customers of Qwest Communications filed a lawsuit Wed nesday in U.S. District Court in the state of Washington, alleging that Qwest’s $200 “early termination fee” to cancel Internet service before a term commitment expires is illegal.
Attorneys for the plaintiffs said they will seek class-action status on the suit to include all affected customers in Qwest’s service territory, including Colorado.
The complaint alleges that oral agreements customers enter into for two-year Internet service periods are unenforceable. Qwest could not be reached for comment.
