Embattled Challenges, Choices and Images charter school in Denver has a new name — Amandla Charter Academy — in an effort to reform from its troubled past.

The school that faced foreclosure and eviction because of financial problems with its bond holder has rectified those troubles, according to Joe Bridy of Hamlin Capital Management – the bond holder – in an Oct. 15 letter to the district.

Oscar Joseph, the school’s principal, on Thursday submitted a new charter proposal to Denver’s school board for consideration.

The bond holder last month was about to declare the school in default unless the past principal and an administrator was fired, the board be reconstituted and Joseph be made the leader.
