Jerry Bailey, Pat Day, Gary Stevens and Angel Cordero Jr. are among eight Hall of Fame jockeys coming out of retirement Saturday to ride in a “Living Legends” race at Santa Anita. The jockeys will ride in a $47,000 allowance race. At 65, Cordero will be the oldest rider, followed by Jacinto Vasquez at 64. “It’s bittersweet for me and for all of us, really,” Bailey, right, said. “How many more times do we push the envelope?” The 11 riders amassed nearly $2 billion in earnings from 71,872 combined victories. “The total number of our wins and purse money takes your breath away,” Bailey said.
