So who’s the hottest hottie on Denver television?
Alice radio is once again holding a contest to find the heat. Nominations from listeners are in, and voting continues until Friday morning. More than 10,000 votes are already cast.
“People are very territorial about their newscasts,” says Alice Morning Show producer Mikey Goldenberg. “They want to see their pony cross the line first.”
Here’s the roster:
Hottest Male Anchor: Jim Benemann, Bob Kendrick, Mike Landess and Ron Zappolo.
Hottest Female Anchor: Bazi Kanani, Molly Hughes, Anne Trujillo and Natalie Tysdal. (Glaring omission — Libby Weaver!)
Hottest Male Meteorologist: Mike Nelson, Scott Mace, Marty Coniglio and Ed Greene.
Hottest Female Meteorologist: Stacey Donaldson, Angie Austin, Becky Ditchfield and Crystal Egger (That’s a strong field, but where’s Kathy Sabine? And who’s gonna beat Egger?)
Other categories include sports anchors, entertainment reporters and field reporters. You can vote early but not often at .
And new this year, the station is going to pronounce one personality the overall hot hot hottest one on TV.
Crushed.

Getting old.
Hotel Monaco turned 10 on Thursday night with a party and pat on the head for Hercules the Hotel Dog.
And Wynkoop Brewing Company turns 20 this week with a slew of celebrations. It starts Thursday with a former employee pool tourney, and a happy hour and party for former employees Friday. And on Saturday more than 350 people in gorilla suits will race in the the Denver Gorilla 5K. I met Mayor John Hickenlooper a few months before he opened Wynkoop back in the day and pretty much told him he was nuts.
Jesse’s place.
Local restaurateur and hotelier Jesse Morreale has purchased the historic, rundown 1st Avenue Hotel at 1st Avenue and Broadway.
Morreale currently runs Tambien, Mezcal and La Rumba and owns the All-Inn Motel, which houses the edgy Rockbar.
Sean Yontz, who cooks it at Morreale’s food gigs, will operate a restaurant in the hotel, which Morreale plans to restore to its 1905 glory. Opening price tag: $5 million.
“It’s a great building,” says Morreale. “It’s right in the middle of everything that’s going on over there. I love it.”
