BOULDER, Colo.—The trial of a Louisville man charged in the death of his 11-week-old son was moved Friday from Jefferson County to Denver, and a trial date was set for Jan. 12.
Alex Midyette is accused of fatal child abuse in the death of his son, Jason. Doctors say the boy had more than 20 broken bones and a skull fracture when he died in 2006.
The 29-year-old Midyette was to have stood trial in late September, but a judge postponed that date and said the trial should occur no later than January.
The case had earlier been moved to Jefferson County due to pretrial publicity. It was moved again because Jefferson County could not accommodate a four-week trial in January.
The boy’s mother, Molly Midyette, was convicted in December and is serving a 16-year sentence.
