Pumpkin pass

Priscilla Friedlander says it takes her all year to get up the nerve to wear her Jane Fonda costume — complete with leotard and leg warmers — for Halloween, but she will once again, just as she’s rolling out the pumpkins for people who attend her exercise boot camps. The camps meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 6:15 to 7 a.m. and 6 to 6:45 p.m. at most locations. The fall camp started Oct. 20 and runs until Nov. 14; then another session is Nov. 24-Dec. 19. Cost is $209 for four-week camp or $219 for a 12-session punch card. The indoor camps meet at Arapahoe Community College, 5900 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton; ATA Family Martial Arts, 205 W. County Line Road, Highlands Ranch; and Spirit Wild Kempo Karate, 10841 S. Crossroads Drive, Parker. More at .

Safety matters

With days getting shorter, people who walk, run and cycle outdoors need to be thinking about their safety. Reflective gear can be as simple as adhesive tape applied to outerwear and wrist or ankle bands with built-in LEDs. Nathan is among the companies selling such gear as a bike commuter kit, $20, which includes stickers, wristband and LED strobe light. Details at

Full scream ahead

Families who want to get a little training in before the big Halloween candy crawl can sign up for the Scream Scram 5K Run/Walk and 100M Spooky Sneak for Kids that takes place at 6 p.m. Friday at Washington Park. Costumed runners, walkers, little monsters and four-legged friends will race to benefit the Colorado chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Sean McCauley Hope Foundation. Explorer Eric Larsen will be on hand to teach kids about global warming and show pictures from his arctic expeditions. The event headquarters is at 1700 E. Louisiana Ave. Prices are $15 for kids 10 and under and those 60 and over; and $25 for adults and children 11 and older. Registration information at
