A man who was shot in the face early Friday after allegedly pointing a gun at a patrol car in Lower Downtown has been identified as 24-year-old Dwight Collins.

Collins, who was taken to Denver Health Medical Center with non-life- threatening injuries, was being held Saturday for investigation of attempted first- degree aggravated assault, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman.

The shooting remains under investigation. The names of the officers who were involved have not been released.
