Cheyenne Wells made it to the Class 3A softball quarterfinals. However, the school, with only 62 students enrolled, is facing enrollment projections that are lighter for the next school year, virtually assuring it won’t have enough girls to field a team.
Saving a little in the tank?:
Maybe defending Class 3A cross country champion Andrew Roberts of Lyons put it in cruise control. We will have to wait and see. On Saturday, he finished third in his Region 4 race behind Amos Bowen of Brush and Gabe Toepel of Brighton Collegiate.
Cat scratch fever:
Ellen Hackstaff’s goal in double overtime Friday night propelled St. Mary’s Academy past Colorado Academy in the first round of the state field hockey tournament.
