Mekana Barnes had 16 kills, a .615 attack percentage, six blocks and a service ace to lead the Colorado State volleyball team to a sweep (25-20, 25-20, 25-20) of host San Diego State on Saturday.
Jacque Davisson also reached double-digits in kills with 10 for the 13th-ranked Rams (17-2, 7-1 Mountain West). Setter Ashley Fornstrom had 42 assists.
• Seniors Alex Buth and Amber Sutherland each posted 17 kills, and Colorado (10-8, 4-5 Big 12) needed every one of them in a hard-fought 3-2 win (22-25, 26-24, 21-25, 28-26, 15-12) over Iowa State (12-8, 4-5) at the Coors Events Center in Boulder.

Nuggets guard Allen Iverson will not play in tonight’s preseason game against Minnesota in Bismarck, N.D., because of a sprained right ankle. Iverson played through pain in the Nuggets’ win Friday in Syracuse, N.Y., but missed the previous two games due to a sore left knee.
Also, Nuggets forward Renaldo Balkman (hip pointer) is questionable for tonight’s game.
