The body of a man was recovered Saturday after a hiker spotted it between the second and third Flatirons has been identified as that of Edward J. Thomas, 47, of Aurora.
It took members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group several hours to complete the recovery, and the body was brought down about 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
Thomas was identified by the Boulder County coroner in a news release Sunday.
Sheriff’s emergency services coordinator Sue Cullen Cullen said Saturday Thomas was not equipped with climbing gear or safety equipment.
The coroner said foul play is not suspected, although a cause and manner of death will not be available until after an autopsy.
