Crews are looking for a hiker missing since Saturday in the Crystal Mountain area of Larimer County.
Jimmy Carter, 76, of Dallas went for a hike about 8:30 a.m. Saturday and was expected back about noon. When he hadn’t been heard from by 6 p.m., his brother called the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
Rescuers searched the area east of Crystal Mountain and southeast of Larimer County Road 27 and 44H on Saturday night, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The search continued Sunday with the assistance of all-terrain vehicles, tracking dogs and a Colorado National Guard helicopter.
Carter was last seen wearing an orange cap, a green and orange reversible vest and blue jeans. He has been visiting the area on hunting trips for 20 years and is familiar with the area. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office dispatch at 970-416-1985. The Denver Post
