Crews are looking for a hiker missing since Saturday in the Crystal Mountain area.
Jimmy Carter, 76, of Dallas went for a hike about 8:30 a.m. Saturday and was expected back about noon. When he still hadn’t been heard from by 6 p.m., his brother called the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office for help.
Rescuers searched the area east of Crystal Mountain and southeast of Larimer County Road 27 and 44H last night, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The search continues today, with the assistance of all-terrain vehicles, tracking dogs and a Colorado National Guard helicopter.
Carter was last seen wearing an orange cap, a green/orange reversible vest and blue jeans. He has been coming here on hunting trips for 20 years and is familiar with the area.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 970-416-1985.
